744. Misbranding of mercurochrome. U. S. v. 10 Gross Bottles of 2% Solution of Mercurochrome. Default decree of condemnation. Product ordered dis- tributed to charitable institutions. (P. D. C. No. 6731. Sample No. 84851-E.) This product was short of the declared volume. On or about January 19, 1942, the United States attorney for the District of Connecticut filed a libel against 10 gross bottles of 2? solution of mercuro- chrome at New Haven, Conn., alleging that the article had been shipped in interstate commerce on or about December 9, 1941, by Certified Pharmacal Co., Inc., from New York, N. Y.; and charging that it was misbranded in that the statement "Contents 9 cc." was false and misleading as applied to an article in bottles containing less than 9 cc. The article was labeled in part: "2? Solu- tion Mercurochrome * * * Contents 9 cc. * * * Distributed by United First Aid Co., New York, N. Y." On May 25, 1942, no claimant having appeared, judgment of condemnation was entered and the product was ordered distributed to charitable institutions. VETERINARY REMEDIES
