PEODTTOT: 46 packages of gauze pads at Philadelphia, Pa. LABEL, IN PART: (Package) "100 Ideal Dispenser Type Gauze Pads Sterilized After Packaging." NATTTBE or CHARGE: Adulteration, Section 501 (b), the article purported to be "Sterile Absorbent Gauze [Sterile Gauze]," a drug the name of which is recog- nized in the United States Pharmacopoeia, an official compendium, but its quality and purity fell below the official standard since it was not sterile. Misbranding, Section 502 (a), the label statement, "Sterilized After Packag- ing," was false and misleading as applied to the article, which was not sterile but was contaminated with living micro-organisms. DISPOSITION: August 29, 1945. No claimant having appeared, judgment of con- demnation was entered and the product was ordered delivered to a charitable institution.
