Nos. 10943-m, On March 5, 1917, the United States attorney for the Southern District of Illinois, acting upon a report by the Secretary of Agriculture, filed in the Dis- trict Court of the United States for said district an information against Albert J. Keirle, Bunker Hill, Ill., alleging shipment by said defendant, in violation of the Food and Drugs Act, on or about August 15, 1916, and August 18, 1916, from the State of Illinois into the State of Missouri, of quantities of milk which was adulterated. Analysis of samples of the article in each shipment by the Bureau of Chemistry of this department showed the following results: The above analysis shows subdivision 1 to be watered and partially skimmed. Adulteration of the article in the shipment on August 15, 1916, was alleged in the information for the reason that a certain substance, to wit, water, had been mixed with said article so as to Teduce and lower and injuriously atEeet its quality and strength, and had been substituted in part foT milk, 'which the article purported to "be; and for the further reason that a. certain valuable con- stituent thereof, to wit, butter fat, had been in part abstracted from the said article. Adulteration -?f the article in the shipment on August 18, 1916, was alleged for the reason that a certain valuable constituent thereof, to wit, butter fat, had been in part abstracted from the said article.
