15355. Adulteration of sliell ess*. U. S. v. Samuel Fletcher Barnes (S. ; Barnes). Plea of Kuilty. Fine, $10. (F. & D. No. 21557. I. S. ]S 7891-X.) On March 18, 1927, the United States attorney for the Eastern District Virginia, acting upon a report by the Secretary of Agriculture, filed in tl District Court of the United States for said district an information again Samuel Fletcher Barnes, trading as S. F. Barnes, Nokomis, Va., alleging shi ment by said defendant, in violation of the food and drugs act, on or abo August 14, 1926, from the State of Virginia into the State of Maryland, of quantity of eggs, which were adulterated. The aiticle was labeled in pai (Case) "From S. F. Barnes, Nokomis, Va." Examination by this department of one case containing 360 eggs from t shipment showed 57, or 14.1 per cent, inedible eggs. It was alleged in the information that the article was adulterated, in that consisted in part of a filthy, decomposed, and putrid animal substance.
