26869. Adulteration of canned salmon. TT. S. v. Alaska Pacific Salmon Co. Plea of guilty. Fine, $200 and costs. (F. & D. no. 38612. Sample nos. 73486-B, 73509-B.) This salmon was in part decomposed. On February 2, 1937, the United States attorney for the Western District of Washington, acting upon a report by the Secretary of Agriculture, filed in the district court an information against the Alaska Pacific Salmon Co., a corporation having a place of business at Seattle, Wash., alleging shipment by said company in violation of the Food and Drugs Act, on or about August 8, 1935, from the Territory of Alaska into the State of Washington, of a quantity of canned salmon that was adulterated. The article was alleged to be adulterated in that it consisted in part of a decomposed animal substance. On February 25, 1937, a plea of guilty was entered on behalf of the defendant and the court imposed a fine of $200 and costs. W. R. GBBGG, Acting Secretary of Agriculture.
