27460. Adulteration of crab meat. V. S. v. 1 Box of Claw Crab Meat. Default decree of condemnation and destruction. (F. & D. no. 39640. Sample no. 22962-C.) This case involved crab meat that was filthy. On May 14, 1937, the United States attorney for the District of Maryland, act- ing upon a report by the Secretary of Agriculture, filed in the district court a libel praying seizure and condemnation of one box of claw crab meat at Balti- more, Md., alleging that the article had been shipped in interstate commerce on or about May 12, 1936, by L. P. Maggioni & Co., from Savannah, Ga., and charg- ing adulteration in violation of the Food and Drugs Act. It was labeled in part: "L. P. Maggioni & Co. Savannah, Ga." The article was alleged to be adulterated in that it consisted in whole or In part of a filthy animal substance.
