Between September 8 and 16, 1939, the United States attorney for the Northern District of Illinois filed four libels against a total of 352 bushels of apples at Chicago, Ill., alleging that the article had been shipped in interstate commerce within the period from on or about August 23 to on or about Septem- i ber 5, 1939, by the C. C. Winkler Co. from Vinceunes, Ind.; and charging that it was adulterated in that it contained an added poisonous or deleterious in- gredient, lead, which might have rendered it harmful to health. The article was labeled in part: "From N. T. Yates Decker, Indiana."
