On August 18, 1939, the United States attorney for the Northern District of Illinois filed a libel (amended September 7, 1939) against the above lots of canned goods at Chicago, Ill., alleging that the articles had been shipped in inter- state commerce by Underwriters Salvage Co. from Superior, Wis., on or about June 21, 1939, and by Outlet Sales Co. from Superior, Wis., on or about June 22 and 23, 1939; and charging that they were adulterated in that they consisted in whole or in part of decomposed substances. On October 25, 1939, no claimant having appeared, judgment of condemnation was entered and the products were ordered destroyed.
