1098. Adulteration of Limburger cheese. U. S. v. 181 Bricks of Limburger Cheese. Default decree of condemnation and destruction. (F. D. C. No. 2706. Sample No. 24125-E.) This product contained insect fragments. On August 28, 1940, the United States attorney for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania filed a libel against 181 bricks of Limburger cheese at Lancaster, Pa., alleging that the article had been shipped in interstate commerce on or about August 16, 1940, by Anken & Feuz from Syracuse, N. Y., and charging that it was adulterated in that it consisted in whole or in part of a filthy sub- stance ; and in that it had been prepared under insanitary conditions whereby it might have become contaminated with filth. The article was labeled in part: "Anken-Kiise True Limburger Cheese." On September 18,1940, no claimant having appeared, judgment of condemnation was entered and the product was ordered destroyed.
