2045. Adulteration of chili sauce. U. S. v. 45 Cases and 20 Cases of Chili Sauce. Default decrees of condemnation and destruction. (F. D. C. Nos. 4903, 4904. Sample Nos.^69522-E, 69523-E.) On June 13, 1941, the United States attorney for the Southern District of New York filed libels against 65 cases, each containing 6 cans, of chili sauce at New York, N. Y., alleging that the article had been shipped from Los Angeles, Calif., by Kern Food Products, Inc., on or about October 24, 1940, and March 19, 1941; and charging that it was adulterated in that it consisted in whole or in part of a decomposed substance. The article was labeled in part: "Kern's Fancy Chili Sauce * * * Net Weight 7 Lbs." On July 24, 1941, no claimant having appeared, judgments of condemnation were entered and the product was ordered destroyed.
