2941. Adulteration of dill pickles. U. S. v. ,50 barrels, of Dill Pickles. Consent decree of condemnation. Product ordered released under bond to be reconditioned. (F. D. C. No. 6205. Sample No. 54255-B.) Examination showed that this product contained rodent hair and insect fragments. On November 12, 1941, the United States attorney for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania filed a libel against 50 barrels of dill pickles at Philadelphia, Pa., alleging that the article had been shipped on or about September 22, 1941, by H. M. Field, Inc., from Denton, Md.; and charging that it was adulterated in that it consisted in whole or in part of a filthy substance, and in that it had been prepared under insanitary conditions whereby it might have become contaminated with filth. On December 22,1941, H. M. Field, Inc., having appeared as claimant, judgment of condemnation was entered and the product was ordered released under bond to be reconditioned under the supervision of the Food and Drug Administration. The pickles were removed from the brine, washed thoroughly, and replaced in a brine of water and salt.
