3039. Adulteration of Cheddar cheese. XT. S. v. 203 Boxes, 206 Boxes, and 218 Boxes of Cheddar Cheese. Default decree of condemnation and destruc- tion. (F. D. C. No. 6298. Sample No. 53590-B.) Examination showed that this product contained insect fragments. On November 27, 1941, the United States attorney for the Southern District of California filed a libel against 627 boxes of Cheddar cheese at Los Angeles, Calif., alleging that the article had been shipped in interstate commerce on or about September 22 and 29 and October 11, 1941, by Jerome Cooperative Cream- ery from Twin Falls, Idaho; and charging that it was adulterated in that it consisted in whole or in part of a filthy substance; and (1 code only) in that it had been prepared tinder insanitary conditions whereby it might have become contaminated with filth.
