3774. Adulteration of relish. U. S. v. 19% Dozen Jars of Relish. Default decree of condemnation and destruction. (F. D. C. No. 7358. Sample No. 84367-E.) $1 This product contained insect fragments and hairs resembling those of rodents. On April 17, 1942, the United States attorney for the District of New Jersey filed a libel against 19% dozen jars of relish at Newark, N. J., alleging that the article had been shipped in" interstate commerce within the period from on or about February 18 to on or about March 17, 1942, by Harriet De Solms from Norristown, Pa.; and charging that it was adulterated in that it consisted in whole or in part of a filthy substance, and in that it had been prepared under in- sanitary conditions whereby it might have become contaminated with filth. The article was labeled in part: (Jars) "Mrs. Sands Hot Spiced Bar-be-que Relish." On July 13,1942, no claimant having appeared, judgment of condemnation was entered and the product was ordered destroyed.
