3873. Adulteration of butter. TJ. S. v. 32S Boxes of butter. Default decree of condemnation. Product ordered sold to a commercial concern for use for defense purposes. (F. D. C. No. 7975. Sample No. 4501-F.) On July 9, 1942, the United States attorney for the Southern District of Indiana filed a libel against 325 63-pound boxes of butter at Indianapolis, Ind., alleging that the article had been shipped in interstate commerce on or about June 29, 1942, by the Patton Creamery Co. from Springfield, Mo.; and charging that it was adulterated in that it consisted in whole or in part of a filthy, putrid, or decomposed substance, or was otherwise unfit for food. On August 28, 1942, no claimant having appeared, judgment of condemnation was entered and the product was ordered sold to be rendered into inedible grease and disposed of for defense purposes.
