On October 6 and 19, 1943, the United States attorney for the Southern District of California filed libels against 2,200 jars and 5 eases of sauerkraut as Los Angeles, Calif., alleging that the article had been shipped in interstate commerce within the period from on or about April 11 to May 14, 1943, by the La Salle Food Products Co. from Detroit, Mich.; and charging that it was adulterated in that it consisted in whole or in part of a decomposed substance. The article was labeled in part: (Jar) "Ole Fashion Crown Brand Products Sauer Kraut." On November 16, 1943, no claimant having appeared, judgments of condemna- tion were entered and the product was ordered destroyed.
