PRODUCT: 16 cartons, each containing approximately 30 pounds, of butter, at New York, N. Y. Examination of samples showed that the product contained mold. LABEL, IN PART: (Cartons) "Butter Distributed By F.' F. Lowenfels & Son * * * New York." VIOLATION CHARGED: Adulteration, Section 402 (a) (3), the product consisted in whole or in part of a filthy, putrid, or decomposed substance. DISPOSITION : August 1, 1944. No claimant having appeared, judgment of con- demnation was entered and the product was ordered disposed of for non-food salvage fat, to be used in the war effort.
