LIBEL FILED : August 31,1945, District of Vermont. ALLEGED SHIPMENT : On or about April 26,1945, from Watkins Glen, N. T. PRODUCT: 146 100-pound bags of salt at Hinesburg, Vt., in possession of O. Economou. The product was stored under insanitary conditions after ship- ment. Rodent pellets and urine stains were "observed on the bags, and exami- nation showed that the product was contaminated with rodent urine. NATURE OOF CHARGE: Adulteration, Section 402 (a) (3), the product consisted in whole or in part of a filthy substance; and, Section 402 (a) (4), it had been held under insanitary conditions whereby it may have become contaminated with filth. DISPOSITION: February 12, 1946. No claimant having appeared, judgment of forfeiture was entered and the product was ordered delivered to the City of Burlington, Vt., to be used for highway purposes.
