ALLEGED SHIPMENT : On or about March 6, 1946, by the Baisin Syrup Co., from Fowler, Calif. PRODUCT: 18 600-pound barrels and 2,634 cases, each case containing 12 1-pint, 12-ounce bottles, of evaporated grape juice at Boston, Mass. NATURE OF CHARGE: Adulteration, Section 402 (a) (2), the article contained an added poisonous and deleterious substance, monochloracetie acid, which is un- safe within the meaning of the law since it is a substance not required in the production of the article and could have been avoided by good manufacturing practice. DISPOSITION : October 28, 1946. No claimant having appeared, judgment of con- demnation was entered and it was ordered that the product be destroyed and that the containers be salvaged.
