District of Illinois. ALLEGED SHIPMENT: On or about January 29, 1948, by the V. R. Smith Olive Co. from Oakland, Calif. PRODUCT: 55 kegs of Greek olives at Chicago, Ill. LABEL IN PART : "Oil Cured Greek Style Olives Net 100." NATURE OF CHARGE: Adulteration, Section 402 (a) (3), the article consisted in whole or in part of a filthy substance by reason of the presence of rodent hairs; and, Section 402 (a) (4), it had been prepared under insanitary conditions whereby it may have become contaminated with filth. DISPOSITION: August 4, 1948. The libel proceedings having been consolidated and the V. R. Smith Olive Co., claimant, having consented to the entry of a decree, judgment of condemnation was entered and the product was ordered released under bond to be brought into compliance with the law, under the supervision of the Federal Security Agency. The product was reconditioned by a cleaning process which resulted in the elimination of the filth. Of the 44 100-pound kegs of olives that were seized, 37 100-pound kegs and 2 kegs containing 89 pounds were released as satisfactory. VEGETABLES AND VEGETABLE PRODUCTS
