PRODUCT: 2 llO-pound barrels of a product purporting to be dried whole eggs, and 40 125-pound barrels, 1 104-pound barrel, and 3 30-pound paper bags of dried whole eggs sweepings at New York, N. Y. LABEL IN PART: (41 barrels) "Dried Whole Egg Sweepings." The paper bags and the 2 llO-pound barrels were unlabeled. NATURE OF CHARGE: Adulteration, Section 402 (a) (3), the products consisted in whole or in part of filthy substances and were otherwise unfit for food. (The products were contaminated with metal fragments, broom straws, brush fibers, string, soot, and miscellaneous dirt such as is found in floor sweepings.) DISPOSITION : March 1,1948. Edson & Pratt, Inc., Chicago, Ill., claimant, having consented to the entry of a decree, judgment was entered ordering the products released under bond for the separation of the fit from the unfit, under the supervision of the Food and Drug Administration, and the denaturing of the unfit for use as animal feed.
