ALLEGED SHIPMENT: On or about January 6, 1950, by the Salinas Celery Dis- tributors, from Salinas, Calif. PRODUCT: 400 crates of celery at Minneapolis, Minn. LABEL IN PART : "SCD Brand Selected Vegetables." NATURE OF CHARGE: Adulteration, Section 402 (a) (3), the product was unfit for food by reason of its discoloration, pithiness, and softness, due to freezing. DISPOSITION : February 17, 1950. Default decree of condemnation. The court ordered that the product be disposed of in compliance with the law. The product was purchased by a local firm, and all unfit stalks were removed under the supervision of the Food and Drug Administration, leaving only sound celery and celery hearts.
