ALLEGED SHIPMENT : On or about July 4, 1951, by the Eastern Dressed Poultry Co., from Willimantic, Conn. PRODUCT: 22 crates, each containing approximately 71 pounds, of dressed poultry at New York, N. Y. Examination disclosed the presence of pellets of added diethylstilbestrol in the edible portions of the birds. NATURE OF CHARGE: Adulteration, Section 402 (a) (2), the product contained an added deleterious substance which is unsafe within the meaning of Section 406 of the law. DISPOSITION : August 3,1951. The Eastern Dressed Poultry Co. having appeared as claimant and consented to the entry of a decree, judgment of condemnation was entered and the court ordered that the product be released under bond to be brought into compliance with the law by removal of the necks and eviscera- tion, under the supervision of the Food and Drug Administration.
