ALLEGED SHIPMENT : On or about April 5,1950, from Valparaiso, Chile. PRODUCT: 530 65-pound bags of Chilean crushed fed peppers at Los Angeles, Calif. NATURE OF CHARGE: Adulteration, Section 402 (a) (3), the product consisted in whole or in part of a filthy substance by reason of the presence of insects and insect parts. The product was adulterated while held for sale after ship- ment in interstate commerce. DISPOSITION : September 27,1951. Default decree of condemnation. The court ordered that the product be sold to the highest bidder to be denatured at the expense of the purchaser, under the supervision of the Food and Drug Admin- istration, and that it be converted into animal feed.
