PRODUCT: 900 cartons, each containing 48 15-ounce cans, of sardines at Wil- mington, Calif. Examination showed that the product was anchovies. LABEL, IN PART : "Velera Brand Highest Quality California Sardines Packed By San Carlos Canning Co. Monterey Cal." NATURE OF CHARGE: Adulteration, Section 402 (b) (2), anchovies had been substituted in whole or in part for sardines, which the article was represented to be. Misbranding, Section 403 (b), the article was offered for sale under the name of another food, namely, sardines. Calif., claimant, having consented to the entry of a decree, judgment of con- demnation was entered and the court ordered that the product be released under bond for relabeling, under the supervision of the Federal Security Agency.
